New release for 2022 - A8iDS.
In the lead up to the 2020 worlds we started to trial a new sail fabric called i-LEX. This material is made up from layers of Aramid and Dyneema filaments spread thinly over a flexible glue film. The filaments are laid down in pre determine directions. This is the lightest and strongest sail cloth currently available.
For 2021 we worked with some awsome sailors to enhace the A6iDS and after many many modification have re coded for 2022 introducing the A8iDS. Woring with Paul Goodison ( 3rd 2021 worlds) - Dylan Fletcher (who despite missing most of the season in his Moth to winning a Gold 49er medal finnished 10th at the 2021 worlds), Ruggi Titta like Dylan winning a Nacra gold medal finished 7th at the worlds having developed the single skin verson of the A6iDS for a wishbone boom. We also had Simone Salva in 9th and top corithian Dave Hivey in 12th.
We offer 3 basic versions of the A8iDS. 950mm / 1050mm / 1200mm DS panel versions. 950mm fits the “traditional “ boom mainsheet position. However we strongly recommend moving the mainsheet aft on the boom to accommodate the longer 1050mm DS panel ( As used by Dylan for the last two seasons and 4 others in the top ten this year). The longer DS panel lowers the heeling moment, increases the endplate effect and increases the likelihood of attached flow. Other changes include a radial shape DS section to fair the shape and internal DS skin primary downhual attachment.
The sail is also available to fit masts 4950 and 5100 mast lengths. Our default reccomendation is 5000 as it ensures an end plate on most boat designs.
Door to door delivery is included in this price for the EU and US only. Other areas will incur a shipping charge which will be invoiced separately before the sail is dispatched. Any additional cams and battens requested will also be invoiced separately.
