The A1m mainsail design captures all the R&D Lennon and Truswell have expended in the pursuit of the Membrane concept. The sail is on the deeper side compared to some of our competition but, due to the stable nature of the material, flattens off very easily. The shape stays flat in the exit giving good acceleration in gusts. The head is of moderate width to better manage drag. An oversize head will produce too much lift induced drag in light air when it is set up with some depth and too much friction drag when its set flat with little or no lift.
Lennon sails I14 membranes are made from 1100 dtex Technora yarns by Teijin of Japan and laminated between two layers of BASF polyester film - total film component is 45 microns.
