Lennon Racewear Review, Sean Craig

Lennon Racewear Ireland based Laser Sailor, Sean Craig:

Great racing, great venues, great people and last but not least – great kit! That’s my verdict on the 2018 sailing year. It started off with some training in Malta and some early season light weather events on our Irish Laser circuit. I struggled a bit with a meniscus tear in my knee but gradually it got stronger and felt fine by the Irish Master Nationals in late May, sponsored by Lennon Racewear! More events and club racing followed in glorious summer weather, culminating in the Laser Master Worlds in Dublin in September, when conditions turned cool and windy! I finished 7th in the Masters (45-55), an improvement on 10th in Croatia in 2017 but I left a few points out there (don’t we all?). The three podium finishers were in a different league, but I was only 9 points off 4th overall over 11 races and I know where I can improve. I "graduate" to Grand Masters next year, with the Europeans in Spain and the Worlds in the Netherlands. To finish off 2018, in late November I did my last event across the pond at Grafham Water and boy was I glad of my thicker Lennon top! My LRW kit has been fantastic all year to be honest. I use my Thermalite Drysystem Long John in all conditions (twinned with sleeved hikers from another manufacturer) and just alternate between my three Lennon tops; 1mm, 1.5mm or 2.5mm.

I used to get arm cramps towards the end of the day and long waits between back to back races had me on the point of throwing in the towel! However, underneath my wetsuit, the Merino base layer stuff is pure luxury and highly efficient. This warm, dry, light gear is an actual game changer! A few of my clubmates got "Lennonized" themselves!
